IT'S THE LAW!
The LAW say's it's compulsory for
ALL homes & rental properties to have smoke alarms installed and to achieve
this we recommend that a
scheduled maintenance program is in place.
The Fire &
Rescue Service Amendment Act of 2006 was legislated on
July
1st 2007
The LAW say’s
it’s compulsory for ALL homes and rental properties to have smoke alarms
installed
and located correctly in accordance with the Building Code,
and that these smoke
alarms
meet the Australian Standards.

The legal minimum requirement is a
smoke alarm must be installed on or near the ceiling on any storey
-
Between any area containing
bedrooms and the rest of the house or unit e.g. hallways
-
On a storey not containing
bedrooms on the most likely evacuation route from the storey
-
In cases where occupants sleep
with the door closed, it is especially recommended that an alarm be installed in
each bedroom
